How art found its way
Growing up in the 4th generation of a business family, the dynamic founder Mrudit is a relentless pursuer of hope, positivity and drive who was always attracted towards starting a business and making an impact in the society. Family played a big role in building up his love for art. In his own admission “Art has always been my passion since childhood. My mother is an artist and I would see her paint; a white canvas where white would beautifully disappear as she painted in her studio.
My parents loved to travel wherever we went, my father would take us to museums, art exhibits; I would click pictures, make notes, learn about artists- it would be something I looked forward to the most.” His natural inclination towards entrepreneurship along with an MBA degree in Strategic Marketing from USA helped him maneuver through the tough world of startups. He further added “I returned to India in 2012 to join the family business but my heart was still looking to follow my passion. In India, artists don’t get their due because of lack of representation. ” Finally, Mrudit came up with his brainchild, Lavana Art, a digital platform where artists, buyers and art lovers could seamlessly connect with adequate aid of technology.
Lavana Art : An art gallery with a difference
As a popular online art gallery Lavana Art aims to connect art collectors with art creators along with ensuring a physical art viewing experience, based on the art collectors’ needs. There’s a collection of more than 500 artworks and more than 50 artists to choose from. Customers can sit in the comfort of their homes and offices, search for their favorite artworks and order the lovely art pieces online. For those who want to see paintings before buying, provisions are available for physically showing it to them at their own convenience.
Talking about his labor of love, Mrudit says “My products are artworks such as paintings, sculptures and traditional art. We are different from others in the market where in we directly source all of the art directly from the art creators which are certified by the artists themselves. Also we give physical purview of selected artworks to clients before buying in our studio in our office in Mumbai, which a lot of online galleries don’t do.” Interestingly, there is only one unique piece of each artwork available in the online gallery. Free delivery is available all over India and a certain amount is charged to ship it internationally.
Present Endeavors and Future Goals
Presently, Lavana Art clients include art collectors, people buying artworks for their homes, interior designers & architects, HNIs, CEOS, CFOS, COOS, business owners, professionals, art connoisseurs. This is not just a money-making venture but also an opportunity to make a difference in society. A part of the sale proceeds from this site goes towards ‘The Minds Foundation’ (www.mindsfoundation.org) whose mission is to eliminate the stigma surrounding mental illness by providing cost-effective and high-quality care.
