In recent years, the creative wellness industry has witnessed a meaningful shift. Across cities, people are seeking tactile, slow, and grounding practices that counter digital fatigue and fast living. Pottery studios, craft collectives, and experiential workshops are no longer niche spaces but growing ecosystems of mindful engagement. This resurgence of handmade culture reflects a broader desire for presence, sustainability, and emotional connection.
Within this evolving landscape, Clay Beach Studio emerges as a deeply personal and community-rooted initiative. Founded in 2023 in Chennai by Poojitha D, an alum of NID in Ceramic and Glass Design, the studio is not simply about ceramics. It is about creating space for pause, presence, and meaningful human connection through clay.

A Studio Born From Turning Points
Clay Beach Studio began at a moment of transition in Poojitha’s life. After losing her job, she returned to clay, the material she was formally trained in, as a way to stay grounded and connected to herself. What started as a personal reconnection slowly transformed when friends began expressing interest in learning and experiencing clay alongside her.
Small sessions held in cafés through a barter system gradually evolved into structured workshops. Over time, Poojitha realized that participants were not only coming to make pottery. They were seeking calm, community, and a sense of presence. That realization became the emotional and philosophical foundation of Clay Beach Studio.
Designing Experiences That Are Creative And Therapeutic.

Clay Beach Studio offers a diverse range of workshops and services. From beginner pottery workshops, handbuilding sessions, and wheel throwing classes to private groups, corporate workshops, therapeutic clay sessions, and the unique Hug Pot experience, each offering is rooted in exploration rather than perfection. The studio also creates handmade ceramic pieces, personalized gifts, and custom bulk orders, while participating in flea market pop ups and collaborative sessions to strengthen community engagement.
Poojitha intentionally designs her workshops to remove the pressure of performance. Many participants arrive believing they are not creative. By focusing on process over outcome, the sensory rhythm of working with clay becomes naturally calming. Participants often describe the sessions as therapeutic, reinforcing the idea that clay can function as both a creative outlet and an emotional anchor.
Building Community Through Sustainability And Slow Creation.

Sustaining a steady flow of clients has been one of the key challenges in building the brand. Experiential and handmade work requires time to cultivate awareness and trust. Through consistent presence at flea markets, word of mouth referrals, and an unwavering commitment to authenticity, Clay Beach Studio has steadily built a supportive and inclusive community.
Sustainability is embedded in both practice and philosophy. Clay is recycled and reused, firings are done in batches to conserve energy, and minimal packaging is encouraged. Participants are gently introduced to mindful consumption and the value of handmade objects. Looking ahead, Poojitha envisions expanding into a larger studio space, building a team, offering online workshops, hosting immersive retreats, scaling corporate wellness programs, and developing a broader product line, all while preserving the intimacy and connection that define Clay Beach Studio.
