Macrame is Back With A Modern Twist

A Tiny Twisted

Macrame is a versatile form of fibre art that can be used to make everything from wall hangings and plant hangers to jewelry, purses, and even clothing items. Using simple materials like cotton twine, jute, hemp, or yarn, macramé can be as simple or complex as the crafter would like. Embellishments like glass or wooden beads, as well as dyed threads, can also open up a range of creative possibilities. This art form which was rampantly practised in the 1970s had seen a downtick during the 1980s timeframe; however, with the bohemian style in trend now, Macrame is back with more spark and spunk than before.

A great place to explore the mesmerizing macrame collection by all Macrazy lovers is a Gurugram-based start-up firm called “A Tiny Twisted”. Started in August 2019 by Sanpreet Kaur and co-founded by Pinky Kashyap, the brand deals in all handmade macrame products such as wall hangings, keyholders, dreamcatchers, plant & car hangers, kids boho décor, hanging chandeliers & many more. They have a whole supply of macrame products which they sell to the co-artist community and most of the brand’s creations ~70% of materials are sourced indigenously. Creating a positively vibrant twist to any interior the brand is sure to enliven your work & home space with the finesse of their knot works.

Let’s Get To Know The Brand Closer & Their Pathway Ahead

A Tiny Twisted

The whole thought process behind starting “A Tiny Twisted”, evolved in Sanpreet’s mind when she quit her job and started painting to decorate her newly constructed home. With time, her interest developed in macrame art as she gathered ideas through online research on this art form. She started with wall hangings and plant hangers which gathered great responses on her Instagram page. Gradually, her friend who was connected with an art gallery motivated her to bring up more of such beautiful creations and sell them to customers.

A Tiny Twisted

Pinky, the Co-founder of the brand and an IT professional in UX designing pursued her career with the regular 9-5 job in Gurugram. However over time, the monotony of the work hunted her & having a minimal social circle, she found her full-time work quite dreary. Also, it was then that when she met her college best friend Sanpreet who introduced her to macrame art. Both of them collaborated on projects and orders together and gradually, they chose the most apt domain name ” A Tiny Twisted” to get their business registered. Not only being a woman entrepreneur gives pride to her, but the magical macrame art has given her a transformative healing. Both Sanpreet & Pinky are the backbones of each other in true sense.

The key selling point for the brand is the ease & accessibility of products enabling customers to buy at any point in time. The brand is not only available on social media like Facebook and Instagram, but also available on multiple platforms like their website, Indiamart, propshop24, Etsy, and Worldartcommunity. The brand’s amazing work caught the attention of even celebrities like Tapasee Pannu for whom the order was fulfilled by creating macrame panels, a perfect vintage décor piece. They are also doing big installation work for a bohemian auto rickshaw for a U.S based restaurant chain.  Now the brand is in full swing, delivering orders worldwide to clients in U.S, Singapore, Dubai, Cuttack & Pan India. The brand envisions expanding its presence and product range. It also wants to empower the economically weaker sections of society by conducting workshops to teach them this art form.
