Kolkata-based crafter Ruchi Agarwal is one such artist who’s striving to instill fun and excitement into people’s lives with her artistry, creativity and imagination.
Launched in 2019, The Kreative Cottage brings to you beautifully handcrafted products that can make your home look a lot more charming and delightful. The startup intends to reach out to more people through exhibitions and online workshops for kids as well as adults.
For the love of art
Much before her entrepreneurial dream took off, Ruchi was busy honing her paper crafting and scrapbooking skills as part of her hobby. After pursuing CA and CS from Mumbai, she worked as a qualified company secretary and a semi qualified chartered accountant. Although her career was going great guns, deep within Ruchi wanted to do something of her own. Meanwhile life happened. She got married in 2017 and moved to Kolkata in 2018.
Her passion and devotion towards art coupled with her innate talent amazed her family and friends. They appreciated her work and pushed her to take it forward. Ruchi explains “Gradually I began doing proper research and survey to gain a better understanding of the industry. I took courses to learn more and learn better before starting off.” Then came the time to take the plunge and establish her own brand called “THE KREATIVE COTTAGE”.

Initially Ruchi started out as a decoupage artist creating decoupage boxes, cutlery holders, tissues boxes, bottle art, coasters, trays, name plates, wall clocks, mobile holders and key holders. Soon, she forayed into scrapbooking, paper crafting and resin art. Ruchi further adds “I took a break in between for a year because I had delivered my baby and wanted to take proper care of her. It’s been a few months since I have resumed work.”

What’s on the cards?
When asked about her future plans, Ruchi says “I aspire to have my own website and bring in happiness through my handmade products.” Moreover, a new product range is set to be introduced. Exhibitions and workshops are on the cards too.
