The journey towards motherhood is both intimate and joyous as it brings forth a slew of new experiences, emotions and dimensions. From conception to all stages of pregnancy to the final delivery of the child, every mother has her own unique journey and set of challenges to face. It’s a tightrope to walk when one has to manage all the roles a woman is expected to play: Mother, wife and executive.
When Aarthilakshmi Muthukumar became a mom to twins, she realized that working pregnant women in the corporate world faced a number of problems that affected their mental and physical well being thus creating unnecessary stress during the most beautiful phase of their lives. This inspired her to start Preggy, a comprehensive solution provider for expectant mothers that help them strike a balance between their personal and professional lives.
A New Beginning
A brand new start up, Preggy was among the top 40 women startups incubated at NSRCEL, IIMB out of an impressive competition of 10,000 participants across the country. Its mission, “By the Women, Of the Women, To the Women” reveals everything Preggy stands for: Support and Solutions.
With her vast experience in various childcare forums such as Breastfeeding Support for Indian Mothers (BSIM) and Coimbatore Parenting Network, Aarthilakshmi has gained invaluable insights into the problems faced by women during pregnancy. She has channeled this knowledge to create a real impact in their quality of life. To do this, Preggy engages only women in all their operations starting from suppliers, vendors, marketing, and packaging to delivery partners as well.
No matter what the issue, Preggy has a solution for it. From healthy nutritious meals throughout pregnancy to mental well being and preparing the woman for the journey of motherhood, Preggy has you covered. Remaining fit is one of the most important parts of pregnancy and Preggy helps women out by consulting a panel of experts who advise them on pre-natal yoga, doctor check-ups, do’s and don’ts and so on.
Preggy: How It Works
Preggy uses a two legged revenue model: B2C and B2B. The B2C model is through their own e-commerce portal and other online channels like Amazon, FirstCry, Momeaze and so on. The B2B arm operates through tie-ups with multispecialty hospitals, fertility clinics along with corporate deals for their expectant employees.
With a view to take these invaluable services overseas to NRI clients to help them in their pregnancy journey, Preggy is a woman’s most trusted best friend during this transformational time. They also aim to focus on CSR by extending their services to underprivileged women who cannot afford such services.
Pregnant During Pandemic
It was during the ongoing pandemic that Preggy was the knight in shining armor for several expectant mothers. They were suddenly in panic mode as all shops were shutdown and lockdown was imposed. Due to this, several essential items both for the mother and the baby were unavailable and there was severe shortage of essential goods. Preggy curated a special Childbirth Essentials Kit which included 10 essential items for mothers delivering babies during lockdown which were directly sourced from suppliers across the country and priced at a nominal rate. These kits were selling like hot cakes as they sold 50 kits in just the first 15 days of its sale.
