The early years of a child’s life are very important for his or her health and development. Parents, health professionals, educators, and others can work together as partners to help children grow up to reach their full potential. Particularly from birth to three years provides the building blocks for educational achievement, economic productivity, responsible citizenship, lifelong health, strong communities, and successful parenting of the next generation. What can we do during this incredibly important period to ensure that children have a strong foundation for their future development?
The answer lies in Early Blocks. With an aim to instill a love for early learning by creating engaging educational kits that encourage each child to explore and innovate, founder Sindhu Gottupalli incorporated Early Blocks at the age of 30, soon after she gave birth to her own child.
“I had completed my masters in biotechnology and was working in the same field just before my pregnancy. After I gave birth to my daughter, I realized that there were no educational products available in the market to teach children in an engaging manner. That was when I got the idea to create learning kits to impart knowledge to my child in a way that she can understand and also enjoy the process. When I saw how well it worked with my own daughter, I wanted to share this product with other parents as well so that they can educate their own children,” reveals Sindhu.
Entertaining and Engaging
Early Blocks makes learning kits and flash cards for children of various ages, keeping in mind their growth stages and pace of development. The cards are spread over 12 categories consisting of cards for different age groups. “We use black and white flash cards for newborns from the ages 0-6 months as children at that age can recognize only black and white. We also try to introduce them to various animals so it is easier for them to recognize when they are older.
We also offer monthly sticking kits to children in ascending order of difficulty. Each month displays either numbers, alphabets, shapes, colours, birds, flags, insects and so on. Children need to stick the corresponding stickers onto the sheet to get a perfect match. The cards are made from thick quality paper which is then laminated and not very prone to wear and tern thus making them reusable. The cards cater to mainly children between the ages new born to 5 years.”
When Sindhu started the company, she used to manage everything from Product Making, Product Packaging, Customer queries, Handling Social Media Marketing, Dispatching. She was a one man show.
However, slowly as the business grew the team grew as well. She started hiring women for production, marketing etc. Now, Early Blocks is an all women team creating all handmade products. Now, Sindhu and her team is able to dispatch more orders in a day.
The business began its operations in June 2021. Since schools and nurseries were closed due to the pandemic the learning kits came in handy to teach as well as entertain children at home. The brand ships their products through their own website all over the country and has successfully completed over 2000 orders.
The positive feedback from clients has led them to invent more innovative kits. Early Blocks is rapidly expanding and launching more and more kits for little ones. They are also aiming at launching an early learning program-based school in the near future.
As children form an integral part of society, it is important to shape and attune their minds towards learning and development. Education has evolved to give way to newer teaching methods and Early Blocks is doing a great job in revolutionizing the Indian education system.
