Brown Sugar was launched by Vinti Vohra – Fashion Entrepreneur armed with a Masters In Contemporary Marketing Management and Himani Ghind – An experienced marketer & fashion designer with a PR background – the smart womanpreneur duo. They both used to design and get their own apparels stitched for any social occasion and soon noticed that they were getting a lot of appreciation and enquiries about what they wore.


Intelligent brainstorming and a professional plan in place saw BROWN SUGAR the label being born.

“We are a completely home-grown label. There is a growing need for a sophisticated lounge wear brand that focuses on different body shapes in the Indian market. Brown Sugar basically tries to fill that gap” Vinti told The Business Press.

BROWN SUGAR as the name itself suggests is focusing on Indian silhouettes and body shapes. It is centered around brown women and their fashion sensibilities from around the world.


“We have consciously being selective about how we expand our footprint and how we cater to our discerning and growing customer base. Our first collection sold more than 500 pieces and out of this more than 40 % were repeat orders,” says Himani.

The next phase of growth will see the brand building up a portfolio of formal wear, accessories and making a foray into the global market. A second collection is already on the drawing board and will be revealed soon.
