Music has always been a universal language, a way to connect with people, and evoke emotions. The sound of music can be therapeutic, and learning it can be an enriching experience. In this fast-paced world, where technology has taken over, it’s refreshing to see startups that aim to keep the traditional art of music alive. The Vocal Nest is one such startup, founded in 2018 by Satvika, that is doing just that.
Nesting Up with Music Education
The Vocal Nest offers singing classes to people of all ages and skill levels, from toddlers to adults. They believe in making teaching a fun learning experience, so that students are motivated to go beyond their comfort zone and gain confidence. They aim to make their students independent and imbibe the knowledge of music in such a way that they can be their own teacher.
They are also launching a Music For Wellness program aimed at helping in reducing stress and enhancing mental health and well being.
Breaking the Mould of Traditional Music Coaching
The Vocal Nest was born from Satvika’s passion for music and her desire to break the preconceived notions surrounding music education. For Satvika, music is more than just a hobby, it’s a passion that drives her every day. With a background in marketing and a degree in BBA and Masters in Marketing from London, Satvika always had an entrepreneurial spirit. However, her true calling lay in music. She has been trained in Indian Classical music under the guidance of Mrs. Padmaji Wadkar in Mumbai since 2011, and has a senior diploma in Hindustani Classical from Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Allahabad. She has also taken courses in Western Vocals from Berklee College of Music.
Through her journey, she came across a lot of music lovers who would shy away from singing, due to certain preconceived notions, such as they need to be a certain age, have the perfect voice, or put in hours of practice a day. The desire to break these myths and provide students with a fun, innovative, and easy-to-learn music education experience that fits into their lifestyle, motivated Satvika to start The Vocal Nest.
Chirping with Success
The Vocal Nest has taught over 800 students from Kolkata, Mumbai, Delhi, Chandigarh, Singapore, London, Dubai and Hyderabad and is growing each day. Satvika’s mission is to spread the joy of music and touch as many lives as possible. In the next 5 years, she aims to take The Vocal Nest to multiple locations across the country and become a leading brand for music education.
