Born into a family of entrepreneurs, Yusra Naik, the daring and dynamic founder of this company, always wanted to run her own business. Destiny intervened and Colaba Causeway happened. She now aims to create a wide range of footwear of the highest comfort and quality so that customers would keep coming back for more

About the beginning, Yusra says “The inspiration to start my own label goes a long way back. As a child my closet was lined with more shoes than clothes and every pair deserved an occasion of its own. With my growing fascination for shoes, I drew parallels between a person’s footwear and their personality. Every time I went shopping for shoes, I wished it to be different, and would instantly think of adjustments and alterations to take that shoe to the next level. As years passed, picking out the perfect pair got harder. So I decided to merge my creative ideas along with childhood nostalgia and create something of my own. Finally, I discovered my true calling and turned my passion for shoes into a full time career which led to the birth of Colaba Causeway in April 2016 with a meager investment of Rs. 20000.”

Colaba Causeway offers a beautiful range of trendy & traditional handmade Juttis made with floral prints, zari work, detailed cut work and intricate embroideries. A team of high skilled artisans ensures superior design and quality of their products. Every collection is designed after a comprehensive market research and is in tune with the hottest trends. The current collection includes a wide variety of comfortable handmade juttis besides an assortment of stylish wedges, heels and flats. Customization is done as per requirement. Recently the company has ventured into kids festive footwear and soon plans to launch environment-friendly, non-leather juttis.
Though the company is yet to come up with its own flagship store, it supplies products to multi designer stores overall India and abroad. The brand is available on 10 online websites like AZA, NYKAA, JAYPORE, Aashni & Co and many more. Some of their prominent clients are Hazel Keech, Aanchal Munjal, Dipika Kakkar Ibrahim, Krystle Dsouza, Team Naach-Youtuber(Sonal and Nicole), Akriti Kakkar, Payal Rohatgi, Sonal Vengurlekar, Hina Khan, Karishma Sharma.
Traversing the Crests and Troughs of The Journey
Yusra feels her journey had its fair share of ups and downs. She says ‘Initially I assumed it to be easy as I’d have people working for me, but soon I realized that I’d have to do everything on my own, initial financial understanding, registering the company, taxation, inventory management, business contracts, getting acquainted with the industry lingo, finding the best e-commerce partner and of course – Sales! Running a one-woman show was tough but I was determined to overcome all these hurdles and focus on my main goal. ‘
Road to the Future
Emphasizing on both hard work and smart work, Yusra resolutely says, ‘This pandemic has only made us stronger. As we take precautions and fully sanitize our products, we hope to live up to the expectations of our clients. We are staying in touch with our clients via social media platforms and delivering across Mumbai/India keeping in mind the norms of the government.’ Yusra dreams to see Causeway getting into export services and having a store in the city of Mumbai and across India.
