How a startup dream unfolded
Textiles have been a source of constant curiosity and amazement for 23-year-old Varad and his cousin brother Siddharth. Both of them hail from a retail textile background. Their family has been in this textile business for 150 years and now the 4th generation has come up with this brand. Needless to say, they have been groomed in this field long before they stepped in as entrepreneurs.
Varad completed his graduation in industrial engineering and is now doing post-graduation in luxury brand management. He believes the market is pretty unorganized and yet to catch up with the changing dynamics of the post pandemic world where people’s priorities have changed and the focus has shifted on quality, service and seamless technology.
Considering all these factors, the duo came up with the idea of establishing this retail brand that would promote Indian designs and aesthetics in the domestic market and abroad. That’s how Asmiabha came into existence.

The brand has been around for only around eight months but has already received more than 500 orders. Within a short time span, it has created quite a buzz with its beautifully crafted attires. Moreover, there have been successful collaborations with renowned Marathi celebrities.
Besides setting up a store in Pune, the startup has generated an impressive online presence and is planning to expand in other parts of the country. Varad elaborates “We’re definitely growing domestically and looking forward to expanding internationally by opening stores in Dubai, South Africa and the US.
